Hi,
None of the Secureplatforms seem to detect this card. This is a Broadcom
5703 CKHB NIC that is built-in Compaq DL360 G3. I used FP2 and FP3.

I got src rpm from HP site but compiling a new kernel on Secureplatform
seems next to impossible. I had a tough time sourcing the kernel-2.4.9-33/34
but the other dozen dependancies seem difficult to get around.

Siddhartha

We have had nothing but great success using the Compaq DL series platforms
with SecurePlatform. We have many clients in production in this manner, and
by far seems to be the most reliable hardware for SecurePlatform. I cant
comment on the Broadcom NICS, but I do know that the stock Compaq FE/GE
cards work well.

Broadcom NIC
Basically, because the autoconfig didn't properly set up the NIC (speed was
right, duplex was wrong), we couldn't reliably communicate with the
firewall, dropped connections, etc. The firewall was useless until we got
the local site tech to redo the NIC configuration so that we could
communicate with the box.
I haven't seen any kernel PANICs on any of the ones I've been working with
(3 DL360's, 2 DL380's, 1 DL320 so far) at my current client.

Hi,
What kind of major issue did you have ?
We have the same configuration except that whe have in addition some Dual
Intel Pro 100 ethernet cards. When some FTP flow go through the FW, the
system PANIC with an KERNEL error.
Bye.

Yes, several of them in fact. Note that in some cases you need to hardcode
the speed of the NIC's, - I had problems with one box not properly
autonegotiating which caused major issues.
Add a line after "alias eth0..." in /etc/modules.conf:
options bcm5700 line_speed=xx full_duplex=yy
Replace xx with the speed (10,100,1000)
Replace yy with 1 for full duplex or 0 for half duplex
For more than 1 NIC (obviously there will be at least 2), add the parameters
as a comma separated list
Ex: options bcm5700 line_speed=100,10 full_duplex=1,0 will set eth0 to 100
Mb/FDX, eth1 to 10 Mbit/HDX, assuming eth0 and eth1 are the Broadcom NIC's

Hi,
Has anyone got Secureplatform (any version) working on HP/Compaq DL 360 G3
with Broadcom 5700 Gigabit NICs?
TIA,
Siddhartha
