First off, FW1 has been an ultra stable, usable and reliable product even
when using it on a dual homed win2k Dell box.
In the last 30 or so months I had to restart my firewall only 3 times and
only twice was it due to a user (me) induced crash. To say the least , I'm
happy with the product. When I first configured it, I had problems getting
traffic through the firewall, this problem stumped the checkpoint support
for about a week until the tech suggested that after all my fwparp commands
are done I should disconnect and reconnect the WAN interface for a few
seconds and the see if traffic begins to flow... well that "maneuver "
seemed to work. The not so great part is that I've had to do it every time
I reboot the firewall. :<
I suspect this isn't the way it's FW1 people designed their product to work !
I want to ask people out in checkpoint WIN2K land; has any one had this
experience with FW1 startups ? If so; what did you do to fix it. (short of
running a script to disable and enable the interface)
