I'm going to build a RedHat 7.3 box here in my office on a standard
IDE PC, then upgrade to the 2.4.18-5 CheckPoint OK'd Kernel... Then build
The driver (module) from that kernel source, then port it over
Creating a custom initrd.

Subject: [FW-1] AW: [FW-1] NG-AI on RedHat 7.3 - SCSI Card issues..
normally a standard RedHat-Kernel does support aic79xx drivers natively. If
you have the driver sources either you can patch the kernel sources to build
a new kernel including the patched driver or you build a driver module frome
the driver sources. The way to go should be included in the drivers README
file....

Betreff: [FW-1] NG-AI on RedHat 7.3 - SCSI Card issues..
All..
I'm trying to configure a few servers that have an Adaptec Ultra 320 SCSI
card to use CheckPoint NG-AI.
I loaded Red Hat 7.3 (can't use Secure Platform, since the customer wants
RedHat to do RAID-1) and went to patch the kernel for the 2.4.18-5 one that
CheckPoint requires.
The problem seems to be that this kernel doesn't contain drivers or modules
for the aic79xx SCSI card, so the server won't boot.
Does anyone have any suggestions/configuration manuals on how to use the
Adaptec driver (I have the driver
source) with the kernel?
Thanks
Scott
