Visual C is actually a pretty bad choice, as it would restrict your server
to run on Windows. If you wish a little wider appeal, write it in C(++) with
a text-mode interface. Compiling with Visual-C++ is not a problem; just be
careful not to use features specific to MicroSoft's compiler (such as the
MFC library, say), or you won't be able to (easily) port the thing to Linux,
Solaris, BSD, whatever other OSs you may target for.
The OPSEC SDK is geared towards C, so there's little choice there unless you
wish to get fancy.
