I think Nokia advices only to use 3.7 - not 3.7.1 - with R55. So if
you want to play it safe you'll install 3.7build32.

1) Update the machine to IPSO 3.7build32. Reboot. Instructions
can be found in the IPSO 3.7build32 release notes PDF. It's one
command and few mouse clicks so not really a big deal. Back up
the configs first if you want.
2) Update the machine to NG AI R55. Reboot. Instructions can be
found in the R55's Upgrade_Guide.pdf. Take backups and run the
upgrade verifier first if you want. Again, installing the R55
just like IPSO is one command.

You don't need to upgrade the boot manager, installing IPSO image
will do it for you. Download the ipso.tgz to the IP box, check the
md5 hash, 'newimage -k -l ipso.tgz' the image, open Voyager and
reboot to the new image.
Depending on your environment you may want to study all the PDF
files to see what's new and how it might affect you.
