Definately, it's more cost effective or easiler to buy
the new product instead. Actually you cannot upgrade
yr 3.0 to NGAI if you do not have the software
subscription.

You'll have 3 choices,

1. Check Point Small Businese Appliance - Safe@Office
This is the first Check Point appliance in the market,
pretty simple to manage using Web interface, which
bundled the Check Point software license already when
you purchased the hardware, have both Remote Access
and Site-to-Site VPN, authenication, Static NAT for
mail/web/ftp or other server, support PPoE, PPTP,
Static IP, built-in DHCP server, the max thruput of
fw=150Mbps & VPN=30Mbps, unlimited user support (225
U)

The license is based on concurrent users.

NO Application Intelligent yet and no SMART
management, no OPSEC integration.

If budget is concerned and easy management, this would
be highly recommended.

Take a look at the different model as they provide
different features and user license

The price starting from $299 - $1799 (225U)

2. Check Point Express + SecurePlatform (software
solution) + any Intel Machine for the hardware
CP Express is a solution for SME/B, which include VPN,
firewall HA or Loadsharing (add'l license needed),
Multiple ISP supported (for SPlat or RH Only),
SmartDefense/AI, SMART management on a single bundle,
The license is counted on number of user that need to
pass thru the fw to access the Internet (external
interface) that might be least than the number of
actual users/hosts in your company if NOT all the
users need to access the Internet. (Licensing has
changed based on users not internal hosts)

SecurePlatform is a good choice too as you can install
the OS and Check Point Software within 5 mins, just
boot the SecurePlatform CD from an intel machine, easy
management using the web interface.

If you need higher security like protect the
application servers at the back, SMART management,
this would be the best option.

For more details & the system requirement,

The price starting from 3,500 (50 users) to 12,000
(500 users)

All the price has been quoted here is the listed
price, of course, you can have it cheaper as you'll
get the discout.

3. Use other vendor.

Subject: [FW-1] Next version of Checkpoint firewall

We have been running Checkpoint FW-1 version 3.0a for
at least two
years.
I am looking into upgrading, since we can no longer
successfully export
the
logs without choking the server. What are our
options? Also if someone
can
give me a ballpark idea on how much the upgrade would
cost for a small
network with 25 servers and 85 users. I am attempting
to piece together
a
plan for our future, I have not been the firewall
manager in the past
(that
employee left) and am not Checkpoint certified. Any
help, information
ideas,
you can give would be appreciated. At this point I am
just gathering
facts
and getting involved with Checkpoint and a formal
quote from a sales
associate would not be in either one of our best
interests. Thanks in
advance.

Sincerely,

Rich Marsh
