I recently purchased 5 edge boxes to put in libraries that have a direct
connection to the internet. After reading information on the Edge boxes
and also playing with them on a cable modem I figured I could put some out
with out connecting back to smart center at the main office, since not all
traffic is directed back to the main office. I connected the WAN to the
AUI/Transceiver and gave it an IP. Then I configured the LAN with another
IP to include the subnet for the library. The Edge box does not connect
to the internet that way. It can't go out. The router I'm using is a
CISCO 2500 supplied by our ISP. Should I be using a crossover cable, and
do I need to put the LAN IP as the Gateway for the computers on the
network so they will route through the Firewall. I'm really at a loss to
get these up and running. They worked very nicely on a cable modem using
DHCP at home, but I need them to work at the libraries. Any suggested
would be greatly appreciated.
