Yes, you will need to add the Multicast mac address to the switch ports which
the cluster members are connected to.

There is an outdated doc in the SecureKnowlege Base which talks about switches
that were tested with ClusterXL: sk10621

Hope this helps.

Shane

Subject: [FW-1] Cluster XL Multicast Mode

Hi Gurus:

I have SecurePlatform R55 HFA13 working on 2 Dell Servers with 4GB mem, 2
XEON 3.2GHz processores, 12 IP interfaces and 1GBit/s link to the Internet.
We are currently using the Cluster in Load Sharing Unicast Mode.

I can´t seem to activate Load Sharing in Multicast Mode. Is there any
special requirements I have to take I´m using Nortel Passport 8600 core
Switches and Baystack 5510 layer 2 switches. Could you please help me out
with that issue??
Will this bring a performance hike when compared to Unicast Mode???

Thanks in advance for your speedy reply,
Paulo Vieira
