Software - VPN-1(TM) & FireWall-1(R) NG with Application Intelligence
(R55) HFA_04, Hotfix 106 - Build 000
OS - Solaris 5.8
SecureClient - 4.1 for PDA, PocketPC 2003, Build 0148
We've got several (three now) PDAs (all different) with PocketPC 2003
and the above SecureClient software. We use MS Outlook on the PDAs
(IMAP) via Bluetooth and mobile phones using GPRS on the Orange network
to connect to our MS Exchange Server.
Everything works fine most of the time, but more occasionally than we
like, the mail client locks up while sending email. They never have
problems downloading.
The lock ups are hard to reproduce, but do seem more obvious when the
email is largish, say above 15k. (There is an optional limit for
download set to 25k, but the problem doesn't seem related to that.)
The only common thing we notice, is the following error in the Firewall
logs:
Number: 62468
Date: 26May2005
Time: 13:02:53
Product: VPN-1 & FireWall-1
Interface: lo0
Origin: firewall01 (xxx.xxx.217.177)
Type: Log
Action: Drop
Source: yyy.yyy.227.172
Destination: firewall01 (xxx.xxx.217.177)
Protocol: udp
Information: message: Virtual defragmentation error: Timeout
ip_id: 1636
ip_len: 0
ip_offset: 0
fragments_dropped: 5
during_sec: 60
Obviously there's many points in the chain that might be causing the
error, but I was wondering if the above error rings any bells.
One other point is that if we switch the mobiles phones to use GSM
instead of GPRS, we do not see this problem.
Any pointers gratefully received....
Alan Baker
