i agree from the checkpoint view but from the hardware view (drivers) SPALT is
a desaster: sata raid / pata raid / modern scsi raid and some gigabit adapters
....

don't bother using other Linux kernels other that SPLAT. SPLAT is the optimal
adapted platform for Checkpoint, if you want a linux based system.
