Hi, all
One of our client are interested in using those HP, DELL servers to
install CheckPoint SecurePlatform. According to CheckPoint's web site,
CheckPoint supports HP DL380, etc model servers. My question is whether
those HP or DELL servers' disks can be mirrored to protect them through
either server hardware mirroring or SecurePlatform mirroring? Thanks.
Yes, of course, the manufacturers website will tell you as much:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/proliantdl360/index-dl360.html
(Any of the SCSI 360s and 380s have hardware RAID via the SA6i and P600
controllers, which work in Linux and therefore under SPLAT)
Several of the mid-range Dells have hardware RAID as well (the PERC
controller)
SPLAT appears to have md modules for raid0,1,5 so in theory it can support
software RAID. I'd strongly suggest a hardware controller unless you're
under a tight budget.
