In fact, this guide tels you how to improve the performance of your
firewall, and in the Nokia IPSO related section it states that you can
modify the max open files limit with the following command:
ipsctl -w kern:maxfiles 16384 (can be added to the /var/etc/rc.local
file)
In mi opinion 628 open files at one moment is okay, there is no reason to
worry about.

[FW-1] file descriptors on ipso
Hi I am seeing errors with ntp (I want to sync with a Suse ntpserver) on
ipso 3.9 telling me "too
many open files". Searched Nokia KB found a script which tells me there
are 628 files open.
Q1: how can I measure this number? too high or okay?
Q2: how can I raise the number of file descriptor on ipso?
