I assume you mean console access in the sense that you have with, say, Sun
hardware.
I haven't tried direct serial port redirection in SPLAT - assuming they
didn't strip it out of the kernel it should be possible.
However if the OS itself is hung, you need something like ILO (HP) or DRAC
(Dell) and/or BIOS-level serial port redirection. In other words, you
need to select hardware that provides these features independant
of the operating system.
