I am sure Nokia must have a utility to do this directly on the Nokia platform 
instead
  of removing the HD from the Nokia box itself.  I will check with Nokia TAC

No guarantee to erase the old files completely. shred rewrites the complete 
disk up to 25 times with different patterns.

Yes. That's why I use knoppix.
