There are "Intel Pro/1000MT" cards, and then there are "Intel
Pro/1000MT" cards. You have to be careful which you get (notice how
the names are exactly the same?).
Running SPlat R55, I found that even though "Intel Pro/1000MT" was
listed as supported hardware, they in fact weren't be recognized. It
turns out that Intel has over the years marketed many different, and
incompatible, chipsets, under the label "Pro/1000MT".
So, what the supported hardware list indicated was that the chipsets
Intel had sold _up until the time when the list was written_ were
supported by SPlat R55. But that list was of course quite old by the
time we put the boxes together. By that point when you ordered an
"Intel Pro/1000MT", you got something altogether different from the
one that used to be compatible with R55...

hey all,
we're considering taking the plunge from solaris to splat here and i
have just a quick question for those of ye who are running splat on dell
poweredge's ... does anyone have a configuration where they have a 2950
and two quad cards? from the following site,
http://www.checkpoint.com/products/supported_platforms/recommended/ngx/i
ndex.html, i see that they recommend dual port cards in the section for
the 2950, but they also state on the main page that certain other cards
can be used. i just wanted to confirm or have it confirmed, that if i
were to install 2 x intel pro/1000 MT quad cards in a 2950, i wouldn't
be running with an unsupported configuration?
thanks all!
