Yes, that sounds good - something like:

  cd ip_fil4.1.15/
  patch < orph.patch

works on my FreeBSD system - I'm assuming that 'solaris patch' works
somewhat similarly. Following this you'll of course have to do a rebuild
and reinstall of ipfilter.

Note that I ecountered a compile problem on FreeBSD 5.4 - this might not
  cause any concern for you since you're using solaris.
