FreeBSD 6.2 comes with IPFilter 4.1.13 (you can check that in the release notes - see http://www.freebsd.org/releases/6.2R/relnotes-i386.html#CONTRIB). If you want to use the latest version, you have to download, compile and install it manually. regards Andy On Sun, February 18, 2007 20:23, Martin Johnson wrote: I run ipfilter on FreeBSD 6.1 (intel), using the RELENG_6_1 CVS branch. On the whole it's pretty solid, but sometimes traffic is blocked due to OOW errors, and the website www.activestate.com hangs unless I plug outside the firewall. So I guess it's time to update the firewall software. I could do an in-place update from FreeSD 6.1 to 6.2, but presumably the ipfilter in 6.2 is not really new enough. Or, are all the important fixes been included in RELENG_6_2 now? So: What is the recommended way to update ipfilter on FreeBSD? Thanks for any pointers! - Martin. |
