i can't make nessus for windows work

Hello

When i run the latest version of nessus for windows i get the following 
error :
(relevant information only)
"Line 154
Error : 'parent.ScanControl' is null or is not an object'.
"
And then if i try to scan anything i get this dialog "FATAL ERROR : No 
ScanControl!".
If i use nessuswx i can only scan my ip, because on other hosts , when it 
accesses the snmp port windows freezes (not even CTRL-ALT-DEL works).
Im using windows xp sp2 with all patches
