Thanks for your responses George, Right, it could be ok, or a bad thing, I can easily see it either way - and a lot depends on how the process works. Knowing if updating removes plugins, or simply merges, makes a big difference in determining that, which is why I asked. In googling, and reviewing "Nessus Network Auditing", I wasn't finding much on how the process worked and wanted that clarified so that I knew which directions to go with my questions to the vendor. I'm guessing if a plug-in is removed at the wishes of the author, if no one creates a new one, the vulnerability isn't checked for any longer? :-( Is there a list of these orphaned vulnerability checks anywhere? Thanks, Mike The plugin was removed shortly before October 2005 so it's not quite 2 years ago. You should really be talking with the service provider about this. There are a number of possible explanations, not all of which are "bad".
