Since there's a couple of mail threads for this problem now, I have 
opened a bug for this and attached a new patch that seems to suppress 
the error for me on Solaris 8, and also puts the errno in the error 
message (but not the debug2).

I suggest that anyone interested in this problem add themselves to the 
cc: list on the bug and follow up there.
