Hi,
Since giving free email services to my users, their numbers have increased
several folds up to the point that I am quite worried about the server getting
down or crash.

I am thinking of purchasing a NAS or something and use that to backup
/var/qmail/maildirs. How are backups normally done by you guys? Do you need to
stop qmail (qmailctl stop) or can backup runs in parallel with qmail?

Can I just targzip maildirs and FTP that to my backup server?

And can I just replace the whole of maildirs with the the backup version after
a crash?

Please advise. BTW, I am no sysadmin.
