I've got courier-imap working nicely with courier-imap. No problems with folders or sent-mail. Auto-save works out fine to (it puts mail in the drafts folder). Using courier-imap 4.1.1.

I remember that Mail.app was very picky if there was wrong permissions on folders in the mailfolder.. It wouldnt update unread until i fixed it.

Is there an alternative to Courier-IMAP that can be used with
qmail-ldap?  I'm having a problem with Apple's Mail.app and the
Courier IMAP server relating to the creation/deletion of Folders.
Apparently Apple has missed some basic support in the RFCs which allow
the IMAP server to tell the IMAP client where and how to create
folders.  As a result I don't have SENT messages, Autosave doesn't
work and a few other things are broken as well.

When dealing with the courier folks, people have been told to use
different E-Mail clients.  This isn't an option for me.

I'd like to find a working and stable IMAP server that has a more
relaxed interpretation of the IMAP spec.

I remeber I made Mail.app work somehow with Courier-IMAP but that's a long
long time ago. You could try binq imap (it may work together with
auth_pop). I know a few poeple on the list mentioned they are using it.
