SMTP backend delivery - Possible feature request?

Hello all,

I was wondering is it's possible to have qmail-ldap working in cluster 
mode, but preforming the backend delivery through SMTP instead of the 
default QMQP.
If that's not possible i was wondering if i was something simple to 
implement. In a mixed environment, where the backend server knows 
nothing about QMQP, this could bring great benefit to qmail-ldap 
integration.
