Using a external vacation program is a good idea.  qmail-ldap's built in 
autoreply feature sends out a reply to every message sent.  vacation 
does not sent out autoreplies to messages marked with "Precedence: bulk" 
(mailing list traffic) and only sends out a reply once per week for each 
unique From address.  Blind autoreply systems like qmail-ldap's are the 
bane of any mailing list administrator and anti-spam people alike.
I would be thankful if someone would add the above functionality to 
qmail-ldap.
