I just wanted to let know that the use of policyd, through the patch i
submitted recently, is being a huge success on the systems where i
implemented it.
I've been able to bring down spam, not counting on content analysis by
dspam, in the order of 70%. That's 70% less messages for dspam to
analyse, messages on queue and wasted bandwidth.
For those not familiar with the SMTPD ACL Policy feature provided by
policyd, i strongly advise you to check the project website.

Don't get fooled by the first words you read when you enter the site,
since they advertise it to be an smtpd policy daemon for postfix. The
truth is that it uses a well known protocol and it can be used by any MTA.
Right now, from the variety of ACL checking it provides, i'm using
greylisting, HELO checking, ip address blacklisting (do not confuse with
RBL), sender blacklisting, ip address whitelisting and recipient
whitelisting. All these are controlled by a central policy server, using
a MySQL database, that serves all my inbound MX servers.
On other thing that seems to be in the works by other folks, and which
i'm looking forward to, is graph plotting for the policy server statistics.
