Hi...

I do as what Russel said in his previous email: create a start script
named /etc/rc.d/init.d/courier and fill it with Russel's script but
it's still failed with the same result as before
  [root@mail /]# telnet localhost 143
   Trying 127.0.0.1... 
   Connected to localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1).
   Escape character is '^]'.
   * BYE imaplogin expected exactly two arguments.
   Connection closed by foreign host.

I believe the problem lies within imaplogin, since when I tried to run
imaplogin directly, it gave me the same error message. Another problem
that arises is the imapd-ssl won't running.

22/tcp  open  ssh
25/tcp  open  smtp
53/tcp  open  domain
110/tcp open  pop3
111/tcp open  rpcbind
143/tcp open  imap
631/tcp open  ipp

Any ideas, guys? Thank you very much.
PS. Is there any disadvantages if I used courier-imap version 3.*?

The instructions you followed are indeed for courier-imap-3.*

courier-imap-4 uses a differnt authentication system. Earlier in this thread
there were some hints on how to user auth_imap with version 4.
