I am the utterer in this case.  Would you care to elaborate?  Before
responding, please note that I have not at any point supported Marc's
position on this point.  (Nor have I opposed it, other than by
pointing out that a 4xx response in the greeting is a violation of the
standard -- both RFC 2821 and RFC 821.)  In fact, I fail to see any
significant difference between RFC 2821 and earlier RFCs on the
particular point under discussion.  Neither of them is very clear on
precisely what circumstances demand moving to the next MX, which is
precisely the question that djb raised in that usenet posting ages
ago, and which drew next to no response at all.
