qmail-initcontrol - a helper program that looks up TCPREMOTEIP and TCPREMOTEHOST in a file-based map of regexps to delays. This way, it's easy to reconfigure without having to recompile or restart the service. It's also easy to add whitelisting to the map. Source available at: http://www.idealworldinc.com/qmail/qmail-inittools.tar.gz More details at: http://www.idealworldinc.com/qmail/#inittools Combined with the feedback of immediately dropping remote smtp connections from IP addresses who have started the smtp conversation before receiving the greeting, this has reduced the load significantly and reduced the amount of spam filtering that has to be done. Of course, YMMV. -Paul |
