This threat is a lot about fashion.
* Some time ago, badmailfrom filtering with RegEx was such (ridiculious now).
* DNS MF checks was hot (useless these days).
* DomainKeys is still hot (but to restrictive).
* Greylisting even more (will be dismissed soon).
* GreetDelay is well honored (today).

Everybody can continue this list by it's own experience.
As time shows, these topics come and go.
Spammers and SpamBots will accustom to the current anti-methods (and survive).
However, one thing remains:
Email has to be delivered reliably.
And in this respect, qmail (1.0x) scores 100% -- even without patches.
