On Sunday, March 25 at 09:48 PM, quoth John Levine: It might be useful if you have a pool of servers sharing a single database of pop-before-smtp, Hmm, fair enough. Still seems like overkill, though. but I would think for that application NFS would be adequate. Agreed. I have a greylist application with a little perl server that answers UDP requests from qmail-smtpd. The greylist database is in a perl table, dumped out to a file every 10 minutes in case of crashes. In retrospect I could have done the whole greylist thing in the filesystem, but I think the UDP request code is smaller and simpler than putting the greylister into qmail-smptd, and the perl program runs as an unprivileged user. Eh? I don't follow; why would using the FS to communicate that info require moving the code into qmail-smtpd? ~Kyle --I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is ready for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter.
