I got rid of my Blackberry because I was paying $60/month extra for something that wasn't THAT useful.  When I had the Blackberry, I supported it by duplicating my mail to a separate Maildir and the mail was pulled via POP3 automatically by RIM software that sent it to the Blackberry.

Now I have a cheap Nokia cellphone that has basic texting capabilities.

I'm tempted to write a program that distills my e-mails down and sends digests or summaries to my cellphone (can't, however, include the full e-mail in nearly all cases).  The capability I had in mind was:

a)E-mails are summarized / shortened to keep them within 160 characters or so.

b)Certain e-mails are sent through immediately (based on a list of important senders), but

c)Other/most e-mails are bundled together and only the SUBJ and SENDER are sent from each, together in a digest.  Also, the e-mail distillation/retransmission may be delayed until either time passes or more e-mails arrive, so that the maximum number can be included in a digest.

Is there software like this available?  (Call it "Poor Man's Blackberry".)

Thanks, Dave.
