nslookup is problematic for this reason.  Use dnsqr (with DNSCACHE or
/etc/resolv.conf set appropriately) from another machine.

If you still can't get a response, check the dnscache logs to make sure the
request is actually getting through.  Your machine may have firewall rules
preventing DNS packets.
