We are running tinydns as a root-server with 8883 domains

host_look("205.189.71.16","tinydns.fcfsroot.pirates","3451733776").

-rw-r----- 1 1,819,924 Feb 17 22:14 FCFSroot.txt
-rw-r----- 1 893,034 Feb 17 22:15 data
-rw-r--r-- 1 1,560,287 Feb 17 22:15 data.cdb

and dnscache as resolver

host_look("205.189.71.62","dnscache.fcfsroot.pirates","3451733822").

I have seen bind getting hickups on the same machine but not djbdns.

host_look("205.189.71.34","ns3.fcfsroot.pirates","3451733794").

"sort -u" is breaking on smaller machines.

Feel free to test.

The machine is a Liberated Root-server serving the FCFS-Root including
the ".pirates" TLD. E.g.

http://forum.de.pirates
http://wiki.de.pirates

Both ns3.fcfsroot.pirates and tinydns.fcfsroot.pirates support
axfr transfers.

Here is the memory info

MemTotal: 1,033,536 kB
MemFree: 542,360 kB

Everything running on defaults.

Kind regards

Hi,
I have a problem where tinydns & dnscache no longer respond when I have more than a certain number of domains in my data file. The offending data.cdb has a size of 1.37 MB. It's definitely a size issue, since it works when I remove a few domains, and it doesn't matter which domains, so it isn't mis-formatted data. When I do a dig on the nameserver for any domain that this name server answers for and I get connection timed out; no servers could be reached. I've reset the CACHESIZE to 100000000 and the DATALIMIT to 104857600 as described at http://cr.yp.to/djbdns/cachesize.html . I've also set the softlimit to -d1000000 in /service/tinydns/run . I previously had it all set to defaults.
I also tried changing a few ulimits. None of this worked.
The log The log /service/dnscache/log/main/current reports no errors when I'm having this problem, though the first time I had this problem back in January, it said servfail mail.etemad.org. input/output error .
I'm running Fedora Core 4 and djbdns-1.05.
I can't think of anything else to try right now. Please help.
