I had a request for this the other day.

That's accomplished within your webhosting software. If using apache for example, you'd point the domain to the server, then set the DocumentRoot to point to the subdirectory. For example, my blog is at the subdomain klaatu.anastrophe.com, and is directed to a subdirectory of my main site via

DocumentRoot /u4/paul/public_html/klaatu/
